SCRAM CAM Alcohol Monitoring

What is SCRAM CAM?

At Paymer Associates, we supply a product called SCRAM CAM. SCRAM CAM is a bracelet that we attach to the client. It has a durable and tamper-proof strap and is meant to be worn 24/7 by the client for the entirety of their abstinence period. Every half hour, the bracelet collects transdermal alcohol readings through the sweat on their skin.

The bracelet stores the data and, at pre-determined intervals, transmits it via radio-frequency (RF) signal to the base station. The data is then securely sent to the manufacturer for interpretation. We recommend SCRAM CAM for the following situations:

• To ensure complete abstinence from alcohol
• To thoroughly and accurately monitor the treatment progress
• To gauge the client's drinking patterns

Continuous Alcohol Monitoring

SCRAM CAM measures the client's sweat, therefore collects data, every half hour. This provides us with 24/7 data and is much more accurate than blood, urine, or breathalyzer tests. If the client is drinking, SCRAM CAM will not only detect it but also detect the amount of alcohol that was ingested.

Evidence-Based Assessment and Detection

The SCRAM CAM bracelet can accurately distinguish between ingested and environmental alcohol, unlike another alcohol testing. This kind of information is important to get the full extent of the data.

Court Acceptance

Continuous transdermal alcohol monitoring technology has been accepted in evidentiary hearings across the country due to its acute accuracy, resulting in favorable Frye and/or Daubert rulings.

Cost Effective, Automated Testing

Transdermal testing has a relatively low cost per test, making it a viable and cost-effective alternative to other solutions such as urine, saliva, and breathalyzer tests. Not to mention, this test is non-invasive, minimally disruptive, and can even be hidden under clothes to protect the client's privacy.
